How should the Haven fit and which size do I pick?
The Haven fits true to size for most people. Barefoot shoes can run slightly short, so if you are between sizes or have wider feet, going up half a size is the common guidance. These are US sizes, and women and men have separate sizing that you switch with the Women and Men buttons at the top of the page.
What are they made of and when are they best worn?
The Haven has a premium suede upper on a classic derby with 3 eyelet lacing. It is built for dressy occasions, smart casual days, and anything where you want a polished look with a barefoot feel underneath. Wear it from the office to dinner to a full day out.
Are these really barefoot shoes even though they look like a dress shoe?
Yes. Under the traditional styling they are fully zero drop with a wide anatomical toe box, so your heel and toes sit level and your toes have room to spread. The refined shape simply hides the barefoot build.
Is there a break in period?
The suede is soft from the start and molds to your foot over the first days of wear. Most people feel comfortable right away. If you are new to barefoot shoes, ease in with a few shorter wears so your feet adjust to the thin flexible sole.
How do I care for the suede?
Suede needs different care than smooth leather or knit. Brush it gently with a suede brush to lift dirt and revive the nap, and treat it with a suede protector spray to guard against water and stains. Do not machine wash and do not soak them. Let them air dry away from direct heat if they get damp.
What is the difference between the women's and men's version?
The design and suede are the same. The difference is the sizing and proportions. Use the Women and Men buttons at the top of the page to choose the right last and size for you.
